allen and roth fireplace

An allen and roth fireplace is an electric fireplace built into a TV stand or a mantel, sold at Lowe’s. The models we found heat the same way, with an infrared quartz heater listed at 5,100 to 5,200 BTU, so the real choice is width, height and the largest TV the top will carry.

This page helps you match a stand to your TV, set it up safely, and sort out no heat, cold air, error codes and the 2020 recall.

Four models whose width and height Lowe’s lists, drawn to the same scale with the largest TV each listing allows. TV widths are worked out for a standard 16:9 screen. Note the 54-in mantel: its 65-in TV limit means a screen about 57 in wide, a little past both ends.

From Lowe’s listings and manuals. Every listing gives “up to 1,000 sq ft” as supplemental heat. Lowe’s also lists 44, 47.5, 51, 60 and 65-in models, and RONA sells a 52.5-in white one in Canada. The LWFP62-9 manual rules out old CRT TVs.

What owners like

  • Real warmth: one owner says it heats a living and dining room with 10-ft ceilings well.
  • A quiet fan, and a heater one owner liked enough to buy as the replacement for a recalled unit.
  • Sturdy once built, with clear instructions, say two owners.
  • A touch-up crayon in the box for small dings.

What owners report

  • Assembly that runs long. One owner took about four times what the box said.
  • Missing instructions, remotes, trim or parts, and misaligned doors.
  • Particleboard with a woodgrain paper finish that scratches easily, on the 66-in.
  • A laminate top torn by a factory sticker, with no top sold as a part.
  • Heaters that weaken or stop within months to two years.

Setting up an allen and roth electric fireplace

Power and placement

  • Plug it straight into a grounded 120 V outlet. The 51 and 60-in mantel manuals say no extension cords, power strips or two-prong adapters, and the Sedona manual adds smart plugs. The LWFP58-7 and LWFP62-9 manual says to avoid a cord, and if you must, use 14 AWG or heavier rated for at least 1,875 W.
  • Watch what else is on the circuit. If the breaker trips, the manuals’ fix is to move other appliances off it.
  • Keep 3 ft clear in front. Nothing that can burn within 3 ft of the heater’s front.
  • Indoors, in a dry room. Fit the tip restraints that come in the box.

Assembly

  • Count the parts before you start. Check the parts list, the hardware and the remote against the manual while the boxes are still at hand.
  • Book two people and an afternoon. The LWFP54-10 and LWFP62-9 manuals say 100 minutes for two people, with videos in the BILT app.
  • Do not lift the heater by its upright arms. The LWFP62-9 manual warns against it.
  • Clean the trim gently. A cloth lightly dampened with a citrus-oil product, then buff dry. No brass polish, water or solvents on the wood.

allen and roth electric fireplace troubleshooting

Flames but no heat, or a blast of cold air: work down these checks in order and stop at the first one that matches. The first five are settings or safety cut-outs you can clear yourself, from the manuals for the LWFP TV stands and the 51 and 60-in mantels.

  1. Warm air stops after a few minutes, flames stay on

The room has reached the setpoint. The LWFP default is 82°F, so set it higher or to Always On. On the 51 and 60-in mantels, set the thermostat above room temperature.

  2. The display shows 00 and only the flame button works

It is in Demo Mode. Hold the Timer button for 10 seconds until L4 shows.

  3. The heater button does nothing

The heater is locked. Hold the heater button for at least 10 seconds; the manual says to count to twenty-five. On the 51 and 60-in mantels, hold POWER for 10 seconds.

  4. 88 with a fast-flashing light, or it shut itself off

The overheat cut-out has tripped. Clear the vents and unplug it for 5 minutes on the LWFP models, 30 minutes on the 51 and 60-in mantels. If the Safer Plug cut the power, let it cool, unplug for 5 seconds and plug it back in.

  5. EE on the display

The temperature sensor is loose or cut. The manual says not to take it back to the store but to contact customer service for a replacement insert, on 1-866-439-9800.

  6. None of the above, and it still blows cold

The heater itself has likely failed. An expert answer to one owner was to check that the heater kit gets power, and replace the kit if it does but stays cold. In the first year, call the warranty line before you buy anything.

A puff of cool air for under a minute after you switch it off is normal, according to the 51 and 60-in mantel manuals.

allen and roth fireplace questions

How much heat does an allen and roth electric fireplace give?

The heaters are rated at 1,500 W, and the listings claim 5,100 to 5,200 BTU for up to 1,000 sq ft. Treat that as supplemental heat for one room, not a furnace.

What size TV fits an allen and roth fireplace TV stand?

Up to 65 in on the 54 and 58-in models and up to 70 in on the 62, 66 and 72-in models, at 80 to 95 lb depending on the model. The LWFP62-9 manual allows a 75-in TV on top. See the sizes drawn to scale.

Can I plug it into an extension cord?

Avoid it. Most manuals say a grounded wall outlet only, with no cords or power strips. The LWFP58-7 and LWFP62-9 manual allows a 14 AWG cord rated for 1,875 W or more if there is truly no other way.

My fireplace blows cold air. Can I replace the heater?

Yes, the heater is a separate part. The LWFP54-10 and LWFP62-9 manuals list heater 00FB30-HLA-IR-A, and the Sedona uses heater KDI-02-26-M. In a Reddit thread, owners said fitting a different insert works but voids the warranty.

Where can I get a replacement remote?

Through the parts line, 1-866-439-9800 or [email protected]. Quote the remote part number from your manual, such as 00RC006B for the LWFP models.

Is my allen and roth fireplace part of the recall?

Only if the label on the back reads ZHS-30-A. That 62-in model, Lowe’s item 466656, was sold from 2013 to 2018. See the recall details.

Does allen and roth make a gas or corner fireplace?

We found no allen + roth gas, dual-fuel or vent-free fireplace; every one we found is electric. One 62-in natural oak TV stand is listed for a corner or a flat wall.

What warranty comes with an allen and roth fireplace?

A 1-year limited warranty for the original buyer. It does not cover wrong assembly, overloading, chips, scratches, rust or dents, and some manuals void it without the original receipt.
