allen and roth rugs
allen and roth rugs are the area rugs, runners and small mats Lowe’s sells under its own house brand. There are two lines: plain allen + roth, mostly loomed polyester or polypropylene, and allen + roth with STAINMASTER, sold as washable and backed by a 3-year stain resistance warranty.
This page helps you pick a size that fits your furniture, choose a fiber you can clean, and track down a rug Lowe’s no longer sells.

allen and roth rug sizes
Most styles come as a 2×3 mat, a 2×7, 2×8 or 2×10 runner, a 5×7 or 5×8, an 8×10 and a 9×12, and a few go up to 10×13 or 10×14. Pick a room and a size, enter your furniture, and the plan draws it to scale.
Arm to arm, the longest seat in the group.
Measure the frame, side to side.
The 8x10 rug runs 19 in past each end of your 84-in sofa, more than the 8 in Emily Henderson's rug guide calls ideal.
Lowe's rug guide: keep at least the front legs of every seat on the rug.
Drawn to scale from the inches you enter. The 8x10 is drawn at 7 ft 10 in x 10 ft 2 in, the size in the Lowe's titles of Tess, Blue Garden and Theon. Some 5x8s run short too: Olive Flowers is listed at 5 ft x 7 ft 5 in.
Other rooms
- Kitchen
- Keep the rug about 6 in back from the cabinets.
- Hallway runner
- Leave about 6 in of bare floor on every side.
- Patio
- Go 24 to 30 in wider than the furniture on all sides.
- Round table
- An 8-ft round rug suits a 60-in round table.
- By bed size
- Emily Henderson’s guide pairs a twin with a 5×8, a full with a 6×9, a queen with an 8×10 and a king with a 9×12. Lowe’s also puts a king on a 9×12.
What an allen and roth 8×10 rug really measures
Lowe’s sorts rugs by the rounded size but prints the real one in the product title. On many 8x10s that is 7.83 x 10.16 ft, or 7 ft 10 in by 10 ft 2 in: about 2 in narrower and 2 in longer than the tag.
It matters when the rug has to clear a door, meet a hearth or catch the front legs of a sofa. One Tess owner found their “8×10” covered less floor than planned. Measure against the title size, not the size filter.
| Rug | Sold as | Size in the title | Against the tag |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tess | 8×10 | 7.83 x 10.16 ft | 2 in narrower, 2 in longer |
| Blue Garden | 8×10 | 7.83 x 10.16 ft | 2 in narrower, 2 in longer |
| Theon | 8×10 | 7.86 x 10.16 ft | 2 in narrower, 2 in longer |
| Himalayan Dream | 8×10 | 7.83 x 10 ft | 2 in narrower |
| Euphemia | 8×10 | 7.83 x 10 ft | 2 in narrower |
| Lunar Veil | 8×10 | 8 x 10 ft | As listed |
| Brookford | 8×10 | 8 x 10 ft | As listed |
| Olive Flowers | 5×8 | 5 x 7.42 ft | 7 in shorter |
| Tess | 5×7 | 5.16 x 7.16 ft | 2 in wider, 2 in longer |
allen and roth area rugs by fiber
Construction and fiber decide how a rug wears and, more to the point, how you are allowed to clean it. The line name on the label tells you most of it.

Caring for an allen and roth rug
Six of the rugs list a pile height, and all six fall in Lowe’s medium band of 0.26 to 0.75 in. The care rules below come from the guide Lowe’s posts with allen + roth rugs.
Pile heights as Lowe's lists them, all drawn at the same scale. The dashed lines mark 0.25 in and 0.75 in: Lowe's calls pile under 0.25 in thin and 0.76 in or more high, so every rug here is medium pile.
From the allen + roth care guide
- Every week
- Vacuum at least once, with the beater bar off.
- Every few months
- Turn the rug around so it wears evenly.
- Creases from shipping
- Roll it the other way and leave it somewhere warm and dry for 2 to 3 days.
- Soft drinks, berries, mud
- Spray a mix of 1/4 tsp white vinegar in 32 oz of water, then blot with a damp cloth.
- Synthetic rugs
- Mild detergent and cold water. Blot, never scrub.
- Outdoor rugs
- Rinse with a hose. Washed indoors, dry it outside for 48 hours.
- Loose yarns
- Clip them level with the pile. Do not pull.
- Tough stains
- Call a professional, and follow the label on the back to keep the warranty valid.

What owners like
- Tess feels soft and neutral, and Lowe’s summary of its reviews says it resists matting and fading in busy rooms.
- A Blue Garden owner reports no shedding so far; another trimmed the fringe and found the rug lay flat without tape.
- Pet accidents cleaned up well on Blue Garden, one owner says.
What owners report
- Traffic lanes on one Blue Garden lost color and plush within about three and a half months.
- A strong smell for roughly the first week, and on one rug the tassel trim came away along 8 in.
- Color off the photo: one owner found the Blue Garden 8×10 whiter than pictured.
- One Tess owner still saw roll marks after a week; another needed weights or tape to keep it in place. A third used the pad Lowe’s recommends.
- On Himalayan Dream, a reviewer noticed the border design is not always centered.
Finding discontinued allen and roth rugs
Sizes and colors change often, and a rug can leave the shelf while its Lowe’s page stays up. Work outward from Lowe’s.
- Get the exact name, color and size. Start with the label on the back of the rug and your receipt. If you can still open the Lowe’s listing, note the model number too, for example 1-8015-102 for Tess.
- Search lowes.com for the name. Retired pages stay live with the line “This item is no longer sold on Lowes.com”. Other sizes may carry on: the Lunar Veil 9×12 page says no longer sold while the 8×10 is still listed.
- Check store shelves through delivery apps. DoorDash, Instacart and Shipt show what individual Lowe’s stores still have in stock.
- Go to resale. eBay has an allen + roth area rug category, and Facebook Marketplace has local listings. An auction house sold Brookford 2×4 rugs in 2022, and an independent flooring store in Honolulu lists Himalayan Dream and Tess.
From the aisle, out of stock and discontinued look the same. A Reddit thread in r/Lowes asked whether Jezebel Performance was being dropped when only its largest sizes were left. And where a size was never made, owners improvise: one Blue Garden buyer with no 4×6 to choose from sews 2x3s together.
allen and roth rug questions
Who makes allen and roth rugs?
Lowe’s does not name a maker on its rug pages. Some product page addresses include Home Dynamix (Lydia, Tess) or Orian Rugs, which hints at a supplier, but no listing says so outright. allen + roth paperwork names only LF, LLC, the Lowe’s company that owns the brand.
Are allen and roth rugs washable?
The STAINMASTER ones are: most are sold as hose washable, and Lowe’s describes Jezebel Performance as machine washable. Plain allen + roth rugs such as Blue Garden, Evelyn, Lunar Veil and Olive Flowers are spot clean only, and the wool Serene Sails needs a professional. Read the label as well, since Tess’s page calls it hose washable in the description and spot clean in the title.
What does the STAINMASTER rug warranty cover?
Lowe’s lists a 3-year stain resistance limited warranty on Tess, Lydia and Jezebel Performance, and a 3-year limited warranty for stain resistance on Himalayan Dream. We could not find the full warranty text, so keep the receipt and leave the label on.
Can allen and roth rugs go outside?
Tess and Lydia are listed for indoor and outdoor use, and the STAINMASTER line has 3×5 outdoor rugs such as Natural All-Over, Red Border and Blue Border. Most other allen + roth rugs are indoor only.
Does allen and roth make runner rugs?
Yes. Lunar Veil comes as a 2×10; Himalayan Dream, Evelyn, Serene Sails and Olive Flowers as 2×8; and Tess, Lydia and Theon as 2×7. Lowe’s suggests leaving about 6 in of floor on each side of a hallway runner.
How do I flatten a new rug?
The allen + roth care guide says to roll it the opposite way and leave it somewhere warm and dry for 2 to 3 days. Tess owners also weighted the corners or used a rug pad.
Can I return an allen and roth rug?
Under Lowe’s standard policy, most new, unused items can be refunded or exchanged within 90 days with a receipt. Returns and support for every allen + roth category.
