Sizing an allen and roth chandelier
Two rules of thumb from Lighting New York’s sizing guide do most of the work. Add the room’s length and width in feet and use the total as the fixture’s width in inches. Over a table, keep it to half or two thirds of the table’s width, hung 30 to 36 in above the top.

The Merington has far more Lowe’s reviews than any other allen + roth vanity light we checked: 4.3 out of 5 from 1,158, with 82% saying they would recommend it. It comes as a 21.5-in 3-light or a 37.5-in 5-light bar, in brushed nickel or matte black.
Other vanity lines include the 15.31-in 2-light black Meredith, rated 4.5 from 141 reviews, and the 24-in 3-light brushed nickel Vallymede. The vanity bar manuals list 60 W max medium-base bulbs.
- Check every glass shade at pickup. Broken or damaged shades and bent parts are the common Merington complaint in Lowe’s review summary.
- Pick the shade direction. The shades mount up or down. One owner turned them up and used 75 W-equivalent LED bulbs to light a small bath well.
- Have longer screws ready. A Meredith owner found the mounting screws too short; the bracket has to sit flush to the box.
- Watch the finish in a damp room. One owner saw rust on a brushed nickel Merington within 18 months, another saw corrosion on a black Meredith in about 5 months.
- Clean it the way the manual says. Many allen + roth light manuals say glass cleaner damages the metal finish. Wash glass shades by hand in a towel-lined sink, never in a dishwasher.

We read four allen + roth fan manuals from Lowe’s document library. The 41945 LED fan’s manual has the fullest parts list, drawn below with its part numbers, which is what the parts line asks for.
What the fan manuals ask for
- Height and room. Blades at least 7 ft above the floor and 30 in from anything in their way (41945).
- A fan-rated box. The 41945 needs an outlet box rated for at least 35 lb. The fan itself weighs 19.66 lb.
- Sloped ceilings. Up to 20 degrees for the 35207, 18 degrees for the 35158.
- Reverse switch. Left blows air down for warm weather, right pulls it up for cool weather. Flip it only when the blades have stopped.
- Upkeep. Tighten every screw at least twice a year. Dust with a soft brush or lint-free cloth, never a damp one.

When an allen and roth ceiling fan randomly turns on
The 41945 manual gives three reasons a remote stops working: a power surge cleared its memory, the 12 V battery is dead, or another remote nearby is interfering. The manual does not cover a fan that switches itself on, but general advice points to the same cause, a remote on the same frequency, and the same fix: pair it again, or change the code switches if your remote has them.
Re-pair a 41945 remote
- Turn the fan’s power off, then back on.
- Within 30 seconds, hold LEARN for 5 seconds. Holding HIGH and LOW together does the same.
- Watch the fan. When it has synced, it starts on low with the light off.
- Still nothing? Fit a new A23 12 V battery, or switch off other fans nearby and pair again.
Other allen + roth fans
- LED Fan 35158
- Within 30 seconds of restoring power, hold the Light button until the light flashes 3 times. On a Lowe’s page for this model, titled Harbor Breeze Stonecroft, one owner said the remote battery drained in about a day.
- Ceiling Fan 35207
- Set the dip switches in the remote and in the receiver to the same pattern. The fan needs constant power; the manual warns a wall light switch can damage the receiver.
- Any fan that wobbles
- Fit the balance kit or swap two blades from opposite sides. On a vaulted ceiling, fit a longer downrod.
- Dimmers
- Do not run these fans on a full-range dimmer or a solid-state speed control.

Discontinued allen and roth lighting
Lowe’s keeps old pages up after a line ends, marked no longer sold, as with the Valdosta fan. Replacement glass is the hard part: the track light manual gives its shade no part number, and we found no Lowe’s listing that sells Vallymede glass on its own.
The fan is the exception. The 41945 manual lists the glass bowl as part 4L167100000, though its warranty does not cover glass. Part numbers for other allen + roth products.

- It is on the manual’s cover next to the Lowe’s item number. To get the manual again, search the item number on lowes.com and open the Guides and Documents tab.
- Then call the parts line
- 1-866-439-9800 is printed on almost every allen + roth manual, with [email protected] on newer ones. Give the model number and the part number from the manual’s list.
- Check the warranty
- One year on most fixtures, three years on the 41685 outdoor lantern, lifetime on fan motors. Some manuals ask you to return a faulty fixture to the store in its carton with the receipt.

What size chandelier do I need?
Add the room’s length and width in feet and use the total as the diameter in inches, so a 12 x 14 ft room suits a fixture about 26 in across. Over a table, aim for half to two thirds of the table’s width. Try the sizing check.
How high should a chandelier hang over a table?
With its bottom 30 to 36 in above the table top. In a foyer or over a bed, keep the bottom about 7 ft above the floor. Lowe’s chandelier guide adds that it should not block the view across the table when you sit.
Why does my allen and roth ceiling fan turn on by itself?
The manual does not say, but general troubleshooting advice points to another remote on the same frequency, such as a neighbor’s. Pair your remote again, as the manual shows, or change the dip switch code if your remote and receiver have them. See the pairing steps.
Who makes allen and roth ceiling fans?
The manuals name LF, LLC, a Lowe’s company, as the trademark owner. The French and Spanish warranty text of fans 35207 and 35158 names Kichler Lighting, and the 41945 manual prints an address for HKC-US in Memphis without saying what HKC-US does.
Can I buy a replacement globe or glass shade?
Only where the manual gives the glass a part number, as with the 41945 fan’s glass bowl, 4L167100000. Call 1-866-439-9800 with the model number. Many other fixtures list no part number for their glass.
What warranty comes with allen and roth lights?
