Allen + Roth by POLYWOOD
The one Allen + Roth patio line not built on steel. Lowe’s sells it as a co-brand, mostly the Oakport collection, made from POLYWOOD lumber: an HDPE plastic that includes landfill-bound and ocean-bound plastics.

Measure an Old Chair
- Width. Measure the seat across the front, the middle and the back, and use the widest.
- Depth. Measure from the back of the seat to the front edge.
- Thickness. Measure the old cushion. If it has flattened, order thicker.
- Back cushion. Measure from the top of the chair back down to the seat.
Allen + Roth Cushion and Frame Care
Cushions last longer kept clean, dry and out of the sun. Steel frames stay free of rust when chips are touched up early.
Outdoor Cushions
Do
- Spot-wash with lukewarm soapy water no hotter than 100°F, then rinse.
- Let the cushion air dry completely before you store it.
- Store cushions somewhere cool and dry, out of the sun.
Avoid
- Bleach and solvents on or near the frame.
- Reordering a back cushion without comparing sizes: one was redesigned smaller and flatter under the same UPC.
Covers outlast the filling? Lowe’s does not sell the inner padding on its own. A fabric store can cut new foam to fit the old covers.
Steel Frames
Do
- Wipe a new set with a soft dry towel.
- Clean with mild soap, rinse and dry fully.
- Touch up chips with touch-up paint, sold separately, before rust starts.
- Recheck the bolts now and then.
Avoid
- Strong detergents.
- Overtightening the bolts.
- Taking the set apart and rebuilding it, which weakens the lock washers.
Known issue: Ivy Meadows arms can arrive scratched to bare metal. Check every piece on delivery and touch up any bare spot.

Allen + Roth Patio Umbrella
Allen + Roth umbrellas come in 9-ft and 11-ft sizes. Over a six-chair dining set, the size decides whether the end chairs sit in the sun. For a fixed roof, see Allen + Roth gazebos.
Known Issues
- Canvas wears out after one or two summers of strong sun.
- Replacement canopies are often out of stock.
- Solar lights can quit after about a year.
- The umbrella sways in wind, and the newer crank model has a smaller, lighter base than the old one.

Allen + Roth Planters
Allen + Roth planters come in resin and rubber, round, square and rectangular, plus window boxes. Many are self-watering. Known issue: they arrive without clear instructions, so here is how the system works.

Soil fills the pot above the tray. Water from the top the first time so it settles.
The tray insert holds the soil up and keeps roots out of standing water.
The reservoir under the tray holds water. A column of soil dips into it, so water soaks back up to the roots.
The overflow hole is yours to drill, at the indentation molded into the side. Extra water runs out there instead of flooding the soil.
The bottom knockouts stay closed. Punching them out turns it into an ordinary planter for good.
How to Water a Self-Watering Planter
- Drill the overflow hole at the indentation molded into the side, and leave the bottom knockouts closed. Then water from the top until the soil is evenly damp.
- After that, water when the surface dries out. Water running out of the side hole means the reservoir is full.
- Indoors, stand the planter on a saucer. The overflow hole will drip.

Allen + Roth Fire Pit
Almost every Allen + Roth fire table burns liquid propane, from a 10,000 BTU tabletop bowl to 55,000 BTU round tables, and several hide a 20-lb tank inside the base. There is one wood-burning pit.

Where can I buy Allen and Roth patio furniture?
At Lowe’s stores, on lowes.com and in the Lowe’s app, since Allen + Roth is a Lowe’s house brand. In Canada, RONA carries Allen + Roth.
How do you tilt an Allen and Roth umbrella?
It depends on the model. The 11-ft crank umbrella tilts with a push button and has a lever for left and right tilt. The 11-ft cantilever tilts by sliding the handle on the pole and turns on a foot pedal, and the 9-ft market umbrellas are slide-tilt or auto-tilt.
How do I clean Allen and Roth outdoor cushions?
Spot-wash with lukewarm soapy water no hotter than 100°F, rinse, and air dry fully before storing. Keep bleach and solvents away from the frame, and store the cushions dry and out of the sun.
Is Allen and Roth patio furniture made by POLYWOOD?
Only the line sold as Allen + Roth by POLYWOOD, mostly the Oakport collection. It is made from POLYWOOD HDPE lumber and carries a 20-year residential warranty. The wicker and steel sets are not POLYWOOD.
Does the warranty cover rust?
Check your set’s manual. Frame warranties run 1, 3 or 5 years depending on the set, and at least one loveseat manual excludes rust on the hardware and fading of the fabric. Keep the receipt, and touch up chips early so rust does not start.
Can I buy just new cushions or foam?
Lowe’s sells Allen + Roth replacement cushions in deep seat, dining and chaise sizes. It does not sell the inner padding by itself, so a fabric store is the place to have foam cut. Other replacement parts.
How do I use an Allen and Roth self-watering planter?
Drill the overflow hole at the indentation on the side, leave the bottom knockouts closed, fill soil above the tray and water from the top. The reservoir under the tray then feeds the roots between waterings.
Has any Allen + Roth patio furniture been recalled?
Yes. The Safford bar chairs were recalled in January 2017 because the legs could come off the center post at the weld. They were sold at Lowe’s from November 2008 to August 2016, and 3i Corporation offers a free replacement base and repair kit at 866-267-7772. Every Allen + Roth recall.
